Ermahgerd! It's almost the end of the year, so we have some very important things to review, including how far we've progressed with our career goals, how much our overall health and fitness has improved, and OMG, which memes were the bestest this year!? Here's a rundown of our favourites...
In August, a lovely Spanish dame named Cecilia decided to try her hand at art restoration, and what better place to start than that crusty old Ecce Homo fresco? The result was something like a cross between a hedgehog and a beetle (which we love, by the way), and has been collectively dubbed “Potato Jesus”.
Naturally, the people of the interwebz took to slapping that beautiful face all over the shop, giving the Mona Lisa, The Scream and even Jesus and his buddies at The Last Supper face lifts. And – we don't mind saying – we're pretty happy with the results.
Never before has a music video featured such as fine blend of dancing: there's that weird horse thing, a dance-off with a dude in the sharpest suit we've ever seen, and a little kid rocking out on a beach. Throw in a spot of tennis, a carousel and a party bus and you've nigh on got the perfect music video. There's even an EXPLOSION. And some semblance of a love story. We need say no more. It's perfect.
We think lolcats have had their time in the sun, so we're proud supporters of their antithesis: Grumpy Cat. He's been gracing the net for a few months now and has built up a strong following of other grumpy cats. Together they lament the state of the world and all the morons in it. Couldn't agree more, Grumpy Cat, couldn't agree more.
Hey we just met you, and this is crazy, but we like this meme, so judge us maybe. Yeah, we know, Call Me Maybe is a terrible song, but oh! The memes! We're talking video parodies and image macros galore.
There's Darth Vader telling Luke to “join me maybe,” Tyrion Lannister and his “send me a raven maybe,” and Marty McFly's “I'm from the future and I'm your baby.” And let's not forget the Abercrombie and Fitch boys with their parody video. Mmm.
Ermahgerd! We lerve Gersberms berks too! We also love Ferberrs (Furbies), berbles (bubbles), and Nercolas Cerg (Nicholas Cage) (Okay, not really, but you get the point). Our favourite foods are bernerners (bananas) and errgs (eggs), and our favourite movies are Ermahgerrden (Armageddon), Bertljerse (Beetlejuice) and anything with Jernny Derrp (Johnny Depp). Whew, that's quite enough of that. Excuse us while we take our retainers out.
So did we miss any of your favourites? What kept your office busy online this year? Let us know in the comments, and Happy 2013!
